I'm over the moon excited! Stuart Appleby-our favorite Rockstar- won the Greenbrier Classic and becomes the fifth tour player to card a 59 on the tour. Our blue-eyed Aussie shot an impressive nine birides and an eagle for the closing round to make 11 under. He's the first to shoot a 59 on a par-70 course.. that'a boy Stuie!!
Stuart Appleby is a stand-up guy and deserves this great win. He's had a bit of a dry spell to say the least. I've been rooting for him ever since I met him at the Western Open back in 2004.
My sister and I snuck into the player's lounge on the Thursday evening of the Open, thinking that everyone had been long gone. The reason was our hunt for Rockstar's new Juiced version (its well worth the pursuit!) Just as we reached into the cooler to enjoy our spoils, an accented voice coming from the player's locker room entrance bellowed- "What do you think you two are doing?"
Mortified and totally caught, we turned to see none other than Stuart Appleby himself, with a huge smile on his face. We explained our dilemma and offered to share one with him - an offer he gladly accepted. We talked about Australia and the weather and who knows what else, but the one thing I do remember very clearly is the true gentleman he was to two giggly interns.
When you're back in Lemont, we'll buy you a Rockstar and make it Juiced!
