:boys will be boys:

I must share a very endearing story with you. My brother currently works for a course for kids and last Tuesday he had to save a life...

Mike received a call on the radio from Cliff, the sweet, elderly starter who helps the kids get off the first tee. Mike was a little concerned because Cliff does not normally use the radio and he sounded quite worried.

Cliff's voice came over the radio, "Mike, please go out to the 5th hole and bring the first aid kit because someone tried to jump the fence. And hurry!"

Mike rode out to the farthest end of the golf course and found two young boys - one on one side of the fence and the other on the opposite side - crying their eyes out. The boy on the outside of the fence, no older than 8-years-old, kept wailing, "I'm going to die! I'm going to die here alone!" The poor little boy was absolutely terrified he would be lost forever to the woods and horse pasture he had managed to get stuck in.

Here's the story the boys relayed to my brother: they were goofing around and started to pretend to be Happy Gilmore (which I've seen a lot of big boys pretend to do too.) One running start and a loose grip sent a club flying over the fence. The brave friend who tried to get his buddy's club back proved to be no match for the barbed wire on top of the fence.

Just as my little brother finished cleaning the boy's hands, another course attendant, Al, rode up in his cart. "Well now, we'll have to find out where on earth we have to go to try to pick up you, because we certainly can't have you climb back over the fence, "Al added with a chuckle, "But don't worry, if we don't find you, we'll just bring you food everyday."

To make a long story short, our head golf pro had to google map the location on his iphone to locate the little boy, but they were able to get him back to the course, safe and sound.

Who ever said golf wasn't dangerous?! ha
